Hello Friends,
We are on the cusp of winter and I am finally finished with my fall wall hanging! Well, better late than never I suppose. Many of you will recognize the wonderful pattern. It was the first Friday Freebie put out by Kaaren of the Painted Quilt.
I love it! I did change it a bit though. Instead of a backstitch, as specified by the pattern, I used a stem stitch ( I think it is sometimes called an outline stitch). For you non-embroiderers out there I basically do a backstitch but instead of butting up against the previous stitch, I overlap halfway. Uses more thread but that is how I learned to embroider eons ago and am comfortable with it.
It will only grace my foyer for a few days this year. Christmas decor will be put up early next week.
On a different note, please forgive me if my postings become less frequent. I have things going on right now that need my attention. I will try to drop by and read your blogs as much as I can as well. I am hoping I will be back up and running full force in a couple of months.
Have a wonderful holiday season everybody! Hugs, Rumi

I love your stitching. Now do you put a stablizer on the back and what do you do with your threads? (as you can tell, I am trying to relearn, learned as a young girl and was terrible at it.).
ReplyDeleteReally cute wall hanging and perfect for this time of year!! Things do get busy around this time of the year and I hope you have some time to enjoy yourself. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm lucky enough to see your gorgeous works in person! You have the most perfect stitches.

ReplyDeleteI really like your version and yes, better late than never. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWell done for finishing the autumn stitchery - at least you'll have it for next year for the full season :0). Hope things settle down for you soon and you can enjoy your Thanksgiving and Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours Rumi hang it up quick before you have to pull it down. I will miss your lovely comments and i hope that all is well with you. Take care

So pretty Rumi. I downloaded it too but didn't have time to sew it. I used stem stitch on the Christmas Wish BOW as I find it looks neater than my back stitch. Yours looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteit is beautiful, you did a great job
ReplyDeleteRumi, I will miss you and your lovely Posts. I hope everything is ok with you and that you are just busy with the season's doings.
ReplyDeleteAs always your work is perfect and executed with great precision! You always amaze me. Hug, Robin. PS about the show...it bombed. It was ok because for ME just showing up solo was a victory. Now I need to go to a milieu where people are looking for Primitive Folkart.
Your complete blog is beautiful, I like it. Lovely little thinks and nice Quilts.
