In Japan people celebrate Shichi-Go-San (which translates to seven-five-three) on November 15th. While not a national holiday, it is a day for celebrating children ages 7, 5 and 3. Girls age 7, boys age 5 and both boys and girls age 3 are dressed in their finest kimonos. They may be taken to the local shrine and some festivities. Here I am at age 3.
It doesn't look like I am too thrilled with that head thingy. It looks a little heavy.
Talk at you later, Rumi
So CUTE!!! I loved all the festival in Japan but especially the ones celebrating the children. Wishing that photo was in color.
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable. Here in American Samoa, they have White Sunday to honor the chilren.
ReplyDeleteIt would sound like repeating the previous comments, but there is no other way round it - you do look adorable and cute! My daughter is lurking behind me and seconds that, too!
ReplyDeleteYou look like a beautiful little princess! I love hearing about other cultural traditions. This is a new one for me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh you look so cute. I would love to scrapbook that page. Do you still have that Kimono?

ReplyDeleteOh how lovely. I hadn't heard of this before now. Your outfit looks so grand and I had to laugh at your unimpressed expression.
