Gifts from India

Mr. Lucky just returned from a business trip to India. He is not one to do any shopping when he travels so I was surprised when he brought home some gifts.

First, a small box of Masala tea. Very yummy!

A lovely wooden box that looks like a book.

There was a bag of loose leaf Darjeeling tea inside.  That is yummy too! I plan to store some teabags in this box.

Finally, a small box of saffron.

Mr. Lucky rarely brings home gifts from his business trips so I can count myself lucky this time.

The last few posts have been non-crafty but I promise the next one will have some sewing involved!

Walter update

Hello Friends,
You may remember this sweet picture of my son's dog Walter.
This was Walter when he was a few weeks old.

This is him now at 8 months old.  He weighs 104 pounds! What a handsome boy!  He is huge but still a floppy puppy when he runs and plays.

Curse you, Winter!

Woke up to this!
Ugg!  Can you see the little tufts below my nest spruce.  Those are day lilies.  Poor little things!

Good thing I have these to  keep me company while I cry about winter's return.

Zippies

Been in a pink mood lately.  I dug into my scrap pile and pulled out assorted pinks.  Cut them into 2 1/2 inch squares.
Little quilted zippy bag

Other side.

Inside.

Still had some little squares left so made another little bag.

Smaller bag has a wider bottom.  I'm going to pop this one in my purse to hold lipstick, eye drops etc.

Talk at you later!  Rumi

Book light cover

Daughter Lucky is an avid reader.  She can spend hours in a bookstore drooling over books she wants to buy---kinda like me in a fabric store!  She asked me to make her a sleeve for her booklight.  This booklight is very cool.  It is called a Light Wedge. It comes in 2 sizes, paperback size and magazine size.  She has the paperback size.
It's not really smudgy; it's just reflecting the ceiling fan above.

Here it is in action. It lights up the entire page.
Edit:  for those who have asked, I bought this at Barnes and Noble book store but can also be found online at http://www.lightwedge.com/

Ta Da!

She asked that "I heart books" be incorporated into the quilting. Luckily, my machine can do this.

That's all for now.  Talk at you later!

Happy St. Pat's

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I don't have a single drop of Irish in me but count me in for wearing the green today!

I truly am a Lucky Frog!

Checkbook cover

Hello Friends,

I don't know about you, but the convenience of using a debit card has my checkbook languishing on my desk.  Having said that, I still wanted it to look good so  I made a cover for it.
Lucky frogs, of course!

A friend of mine saw this and asked me to make her a cover too.  She loves lighthouses and I had the perfect fabric in my stash.

I'm pleased at how it turned out.

Here it is on the inside.

OK, I'm sure you're tired of seeing my organizers but this special order turned out so cute I had to share.

Don't you just love their little faces!

Here it is on the inside.

And the outside.

That's all for now.  Talk at you later.

Organizers complete

Hi Friends,

Well, I finished a heaping bunch of organizers!  Whatcha think?

Here is how one of them looks on the inside.

Two vertical pockets on the left, one pocket on the right and a pen tab.

OK, on to other things...
